A New Year, New Refreshed You

This month, we put you on the path to feeling and looking más joven with top tips to refresh your skin, face, hair, hands, feet and nails.

Put Your Fresh Face Forward

An orange yogurt mask is the perfect remedy for tired skin. The yogurt nourishes dry skin while the Alpha Hydroxy Acids in the orange repair and rejuvenate it. This treatment is also cool and relaxing. Stir one tablespoon of plain yogurt and one-quarter cup of juice from a fresh orange in a bowl. Smooth onto face, and leave for five minutes. Rinse and see the improvement.

Restore Shine to El Cabello

Once a week after shampooing, rinse your hair with a cup of apple cider vinegar. The acids strip the build-up in your hair, leaving your mane soft and shiny.

Massage Your Scalp

The only part of our hair that is alive is the root, which is embedded in our scalp. Massaging your scalp stimulates the flow of oxygen and blood to the root of your hair, invigorating it to grow and thrive. For relaxing, give yourself a mini-scalp massage before you go to bed. You can also do it in the morning, at work or even when you’re stuck in traffic. It will make your tresses look better and keep you stress-free.

Remember Your Ojos

Alleviate tired, puffy eyes with chilled cucumber slices to take off the edge. You can even try potato slices or chilled chamomile bags, which act as an anti-inflammatory.

Treat your Hands and Toes

For a foot-abuloso indulgence, soak your tootsies in a bowl of warm whole milk. The lactic acids soften skin. After 10 minutes, take a pumice stone to your feet to slough off dead skin. Rinse off the warm water, file and buff you nails, and push back your cuticles. Finally, paint your nails a gorgeous color.

Verano Glow: 5 Ways to Get Started

Summer is right around the corner, which means it’s time to pack away your sweaters and pull out your flirty sundresses to show a little -- or a lot of -- skin. But as wonderful as these first weeks of longer days and warmer weather are, baring more flesh can also be a beauty challenge. These five easy steps will rejuvenate your winter-worn skin and have you radiating that verano glow in no time.

1. Exfoliate
All-over exfoliation is key to priming your summer canvas. For delicate facial skin, try gentle products that contain microbeads and fruit enzymes to gently scrub away dull, dry skin. Or use a night cream with glycolic acid. For your body and feet, go for something a little heavy-duty, like a sea salt scrub.

2. Condition
Moisturizer is vital for smooth, baby-soft skin even in sultry weather. Look for one that hydrates, without clogging pores, and provides light sun protection. Or, try a tanning moisturizer that gives winter-pale legs a touch of subtle color.

3. Protect
We all know about the importance of sunscreen: More is more. Opt for products with an SPF whenever possible. And if reapplying sunscreen every two hours as recommended leaves your face feeling like an oil slick, skin care expert Renée Rouleau suggests using a mineral powder sunscreen for touch-ups.

4. Highlight
Bronzers and highlighters add dimension and infuse your skin with a golden glow. When looking for the perfect bronzer, think sun-kissed (not sun-baked) and only go a shade darker than your skin tone. For all-over shimmer, try lightly tinted bronzing oil.

5. Embrace Color
This season is all about pops of color and bold berry lips, so it’s a great time to have fun with your summer makeup palette. Vivid, citrusy eye shadows are fresh and youthful. Look for a double-sided lip color that can be layered for a perfect color fit.

Essential Winter Beauty Tips

Longing for the days when the sun lingers on your naturally glowing skin? We are too. Here’s how to keep looking fresh throughout the season.

Don’t Wash Your Face
Skip the water and try a cleansing towelette or a cream cleanser that you remove with a tissue. Follow up with a gentle toner. Note how your skin still feels clean but not tight and parched.

Upgrade Your Moisturizer
Use a winter-ready face cream (don’t forget the SPF). Creams are slightly heavier and create more of a protective barrier against the dry air of winter.

Have a Bedtime Beauty Ritual
If you have oily skin or are prone to breakouts, stick to your regular lotion for daytime and apply creams only at night. This gives your skin the extra soothing it needs -- without the risk of a too-shiny, oil-slicked face at work.

Exfoliate, Still
Dry winter air leaves a layer of ash. Add a gentle exfoliating step to your skin-care routine to slough off the dead cells and keep your skin radiant. Select a creamy, rich exfoliant with fine grains that won’t irritate.

Grab a Body Balm
Not just for lips anymore, balms can be generously applied to your hands, feet, cuticles, elbows and even the ends of your hair -- anywhere you need extra softness. Body balms also come in yummy scents -- like coconut and vanilla -- that bring warmer climes to mind.

Behold the Power of Bronzer
No woman should deny herself this magic wand of the beauty world. If you are a newbie, stick to a matte powder and apply the bronzer in a “3” formation on each side of your face. The top of the “3” shape starts at the side of your forehead, the middle of the “3” comes in under the cheekbone and the bottom curve of the “3” hugs your jawline. Blend well with an angled applicator brush and note the suddenly sunny, slimmed-down you. If you’re more of an expert and want to pump up the effect, try a liquid or cream bronzer with a slight sheen in the formula. Apply after blush to the apples of your cheeks and on your brow bone.
