I’ve noticed that accessories are being used in hairstyles for the fall 2012 look. What are some cabello accents I can try?

Stunning hair accessories give model appeal in a flash. “Oscar de la Renta’s models wore satin headbands and diamond broaches,” says style expert Sonya Magett, who has worked with Jennifer Lopez. “Rodarte included metallic hair accents.” Follow these easy steps for the luxe look.

1. Pull your hair back as if you’re putting it into a ponytail. Lift the loose hair and wrap it around your finger to create a fold. Use several bobby pins to secure the fold in place. This creates the illusion of a tousled bobbed hairstyle.

2. Next, place mini combs or bobby pins -- embellished with stars, seashells or geometric shapes in several sizes -- on either side, a few inches down from the crown of the head. These add contrast and dimension.

3. With short hair, part it down the middle. Next, take a 2- or 4-inch ribbon and safely pin your favorite jewel-encrusted broach on it. Place the ribbon on your head and tie the knot at the bottom where it can’t be seen.

Finally, show off your new look!
